Our Story

Marilyn Christine and John Blake’s story began as a classic forbidden love, a spirited romance that many thought wouldn't last. However, they quickly proved people wrong by building a relationship rooted in being perfectly compatible partners. Their bond is defined by an easy-going nature that makes every day feel effortless. Whether they are exploring a new city as great travel companions or discovering a hidden local gem, their spontaneous spirit keeps life fun and unpredictable. While they share many of the same interests, they thrive because they constantly learn from each other, growing stronger with every new adventure. In the years since they first met, they have built a full life together, first welcoming their beautiful baby girl into the world. Their journey continued with the purchase of their first home; on the day they closed, surrounded by the promise of their future, John proposed to Marilyn to solidify their commitment to each other. Now, they are ready to celebrate the love that started it all, by saying "I do" to complete their beautiful backward journey!

Absolutely!Black Hawk is a historic mountain town about 40 miles west of Denver, known for its gold-rush history, beautiful Rocky Mountain scenery, and vibrant casino and dining scene. Travel to Black Hawk

Getting to Black Hawk, Colorado

For guests traveling from out of town, the closest airport is Denver International Airport (DEN). Black Hawk is located approximately 50 miles west of the airport, and the drive typically takes about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Black Hawk is nestled adjacent to <a href="https://www.colorado.com/cities-and-towns/Central-City" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Central City</a> in Clear Creek Canyon west of <a href="http://www.colorado.com/cities-and-towns/denver" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Denver</a>. While Black Hawk occupies less than two square miles and has fewer than 100 residents, the former mining and mill town welcomes visitors who come to experience the area's history, scenery and entertainment.

Rental CarsRenting a car is the easiest and most flexible way to reach Black Hawk. Denver International Airport offers a wide selection of rental car companies, all accessible via shuttle from the main terminal. Having a car will also make it easier to explore the surrounding mountain towns during your stay. Rideshare &amp; Private TransportationUber, Lyft, taxis, and private car services are also available from the airport. Please note that while rideshares are readily available from the airport, return availability from the mountains may be more limited, especially late at night. Mountain Driving TipsOur wedding will take place in June, when Colorado typically enjoys beautiful early summer weather. That said, mountain conditions can change quickly, especially in the evenings. We recommend checking the forecast before traveling and allowing a little extra time for the scenic mountain drive. Helpful TipIf you are arriving around the same time as other guests, coordinating a shared ride or shuttle from the airport can be a fun and convenient way to start the celebration together.
